Color Guard Instructor

Subtitle

Laguna Creek was fortunate enough to hire Corey Kinyon-Cruz in 2007, and we have watched the Color Guard progress to an advanced level in that short amount of time.  Corey started twirling baton at age 6 and was a member of the Concord Blue Devils from 1972-1984.  She has won numerous awards, including the 1980 Grand National Strut Championship in Seattle, the 1983 World Baton Twirling Team Championships in Milan, Italy, and the same award in 1984 in Alberta, Canada. She was captain of the World Champion Baton team, "Devil's Advocate" who represented the U.S. in Japan, Italy, and Canada bringing home Gold medals in 1983 and 1984. She had the pleasure of being part of the Blue Devil staff, and the Sydication Twirl Club staff. In the 1990's she moved from California to Oregon where she taught color guard for Sprague High School and baton and color guard for the Argonauts youth band.  Corey has also taken on other tasks such as teaching baton for the Wheaton Majorettes in Maryland and working with the Syndication Baton Team, which represented the U.S. at the World Championship in Ireland during the summer of 2008.  In 2002 she moved to Texas where she taught color guard at  MacArthur High School for five amazing years.
