Activities

ROOKIE CAMP

A beginning camp for all new members. Also in attendance are new squad and section leaders and drum majors.

BAND CAMP

This is a learning, refreshing and bonding time for the band members.

SUPER SATURDAYS

These are all day practices at LCHS in preparation for field shows. Students should bring their instrument, sunscreen, water, hat, and sunglasses. Attire is usually shirt, shorts, and athletic shoes. Students can bring lunch, or it will be available for purchase. 

FOOTBALL GAMES

Band plays pep music at all home varsity games. All footbal games are held at the Cosumnes River College stadium which is located at 8401 Center Parkway, Sacramento CA 95823. 

BAND REVIEW COMPETITIONS

ALL DAY and EVENING. Morning is rehearsal at the school and later afternoon to evening, students perform field shows at designated stadium. Awards directly follow the field show.

BASKETBALL SEASON-PEP BAND

We divide the band into smaller groups. All groups will play "pep" tunes at "home" basketball games for both the girls and boys varsity basketball teams. There are two games each week until after basketball season is over.

WINTER PERCUSSION & GUARD

This is an optional program and will require parent support and funding. Winterguard is performed to music using flags, sabers, and rifles. Percussion does a routine that involves movement all over a gym floor

JAZZ BAND

This is offered all year during zero period as a regular credited class. It is by audition only. There are approximately three competitions including the Reno Jazz Festival.

CONCERTS

There will be a Winter Concert and a Spring Concert for the concert bands as well as a Winter Evening of Jazz and a Spring Evening of Jazz for the Jazz Ensemble.

PLAYATHON

Students play music continuously all day long, ending with a concert in the evening free to the public with dinner for purchase along with raffle tickets for purchase for large themed raffle baskets. Playathon is also one of our biggest furndraising activities.
