Field Show 2011
This year's field show was titled "Mangione Magic," with music composed by Chuck Mangione and arranged by our very own Jeffrey Edom. It contains such hits as "Feel So Good," "El Gato de Triste," "Eccano," and "Land of Make Believe." Our band even took on the challenge of a reverse box drill in the third movement Eccano, showing mastery of more complicated drill sets.
Band Camp & BBQ - August 2011
Band Camp this year was very successful, with the band learning music
for field show, parade, and fight song. In addition, the band and color
guard set drill for field show and practiced marching and drill
fundamentals. Mr. Edom is extremely proud of all the hard work that both
the students and volunteers put into this week's band camp and BBQ, and
we look forward to a great school year!
Carnegie Hall - New York Trip - April 2011
On April 26, 2011, Laguna Creek
High School Band had the very unique opportunity to be one of six high
schools chosen to perform at the 2011 New York International Music
Festival. Our students performed this day on the Legendary Carnegie
Hall stage along with other students from California, Washington, and as
far away as San Juan Puerto Rico. Pride and excitement filled the
auditorium as they performed "October", "Variations on Korean Folks
Song", and "The Klaxon". Tired eyes from a long flight were soon open
as the students set their eyes on the Statue of Liberty tour on Ellis
Island, to the emotional sites of Ground Zero. Walking through the
exciting Time Square, a Broadway show, performing at the Central Park
Band shell, and a fun filled finale dinner cruise were just a few events
that topped off a trip that made memories that will last in our hearts
for a lifetime - Go Cardinals!
